Summer Is Here!
Our Summer Program kicks off at midnight tonight! The theme this year is Imagine Your Story, so get ready for a summer of magic, fairy tales, and fantastic adventures. We are calling our program Summer Quests because, in addition to reading, we are introducing new activities to learn, create, and do more this summer.
Reading Logs
Due to library closures, we have made some changes to how our Summer Quests will work this year. This summer, you will be able to track your reading and activities online at summerquest.acplwy.org. Here you can log which activities you have completed, how many minutes you have read, and earn rewards!
Our physical logs will still be available, of course! Stop by the library on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays during our Grab and Go hours from 10 AM–2 PM to pick up your log and get started! Whether you chose to track your progress online or you go with our paper logs, we ask that you do still register and track at summerquest.acplwy.org, so we can get a better count of participants and so we can award you your prizes!.
Summer Events
We are also introducing virtual and at-home events and activities for all ages, so you and your family can stay engaged while staying safe. As always you can go to events.acplwy.org to see our schedule of virtual or at-home events. We also have a Summer Quest Facebook group that and we invite you to join at facebook.com/groups/acplimagineyourstory. Here we will be hosting some of our virtual events, such as storytimes, and posting updates about our summer program.
Children
To get things started, our “Summer Kickoff Treasure Hunt” for families runs from May 30 through June 7. Maps and instructions for the hunt will be available on our Grab & Go days and will be available for pickup outside the library when we’re closed. You can also email info@acplwy.org to request them. We are partnering with the Laramie Mainstreet Alliance for this event and clues will be posted in downtown area windows.
Beginning June 10th, we will also be holding an online program on Wednesdays at 10:30 and 1:00 pm via Zoom. We will take reservations and limit participants for these events to allow interaction. Wednesday events include activity kits that can be picked up before each week’s program.
We will begin more virtual programming the week of June 15th, including offerings for infants and toddlers. Event and reservation information will be posted on our website and social media.
Teens
Starting June 11th, we will be featuring a different activity each week that you can complete at home. From crafts, to science activities, to planting seeds, we have tons of fun activities planned to keep you busy. Kits that contain many of the items that you will need to complete the activities will be available at the library for pick up. These kits can be picked up Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10 AM–2 PM while supplies last.
Every Tuesday from 3:30–5:00 PM starting on June 16th, we will be holding a virtual QuaranTeen Hangout through Zoom. Join us for games, trivia, roleplaying games, and more! Register here to get the zoom invite and feel free to invite your friends!
Adults
This year will feature online events ranging from Zoom Trivia to roleplaying games to virtual book clubs and more! Visit events.acplwy.org to see our events and check back often as we will be adding events throughout the summer.
Here, at ACPL we strive to offer a variety of events and programs to keep our community engaged and having fun. Please watch for more events to be added over the course of the summer!
