Construction Kickoff Celebration Event!

You’re invited!

The Albany County Public Library is celebrating its upcoming large-scale construction and renovation project with a public kickoff event from 10AM to 3PM on Saturday, October 5 in the large meeting room. Drop in for:

  • Community art project
  • Free painting and activities
  • Cake & punch
  • Photo booth and fun photos
  • Tour the planned infrastructure project

ACPL is welcoming members of the community to leave their mark on the history of the library with a public art event. Participants can help paint a mural designed by local artist, Favian Hernandez, or free paint on walls. When construction officially begins, the mural and painted walls will be covered, leaving a piece of Laramie history hidden behind the new drywall.

Special Guests:

  • 10AM – 3PM: Paint with the artist, Favian Hernandez.
  • 10AM – 11:30AM: Bring your littles for a fun photo with our pronghorn character.
  • 1PM-2PM: Come take photos and paint with athletes from the University of Wyoming basketball teams.

Paint Details:

  • ACPL will have supplies for all painting skill levels, including paint sticks for our youngest painters.
  • We recommend coming in clothes you can paint in, but we will have aprons for adults and ponchos for kiddos to protect your clothing.
  • There will be wipes to clean up afterwards as well.

Construction Project Details:

Starting in October or November, ACPL will begin a two-year infrastructure project to update two public gathering spaces, create a family Activity Center, and renovate the front entrance. ACPL’s large meeting room will be completely renovated to increase room flexibility for different types of programs and events. The conference room will grow in size to accommodate larger groups. The project will include adding a public-use kitchenette and updating the public restrooms. A single user bathroom will be installed in the lobby area and ACPL will receive new water fountains. On the east side of the ACPL building, construction will include enclosing an exterior patio to add space to the library’s children’s area. This space will be an activity center for youth programs and families.

ACPL is excited for the upcoming project and invites you to come and learn more! The infrastructure project is thanks to generous grant funding from the Wyoming Library Multi-Purpose Community Facility Program. Special thanks to the Albany County Public Library Foundation for the financial support of this event, in recognition of the Sally Dieterich Restricted Fund.
