ACPL offers many types of help for patrons to meet their information needs. Please use this form to schedule technology help by appointment; to schedule help with reference and research; and to request reading recommendations.
Note: Please refer to our Reference Policy for specific guidelines about the types and depth of information help that ACPL staff are able to provide.
Some of the ways the ACPL staff CAN assist you include:
Technology Help (by appointment):
- Getting started with technology
- Using the Internet
- Using email
- Using social media
- Using Microsoft Office or Google Suite
- Using smartphones
- Accessing ACPL downloadable resources
Reference or Research help:
- Introduction to ACPL research resources (in-print or online)
- Instruction on use of ACPL research resources
- Obituary or newspaper article searches
- Resource compilation
- Assistance in development of research strategies
Reading Recommendations:
- Next reads by a favorite author or in a favorite genre
- New genres
- ACPL reading resources (link)
Some of the tasks ACPL staff CAN NOT assist with include:
- Repairing or resolving issues with personal technological devices
- Providing medical, legal, tax or financial advice, other than referring to potential resources
- Filing taxes
- Completing job applications or personal financial paperwork
- Creating a webpage, creative project or other original intellectual work
- Starting an online business
- School coursework, other than referring to potential resources
- Proofreading, formatting, or editing documents
- In-depth research, other than referring to potential resources and assisting with development of a research strategy
